Rumors’ Responsible Tourism Program
Nothing is more satisfying than the feeling of giving back, especially to those most in need. At Rumors Resort, we are making our first step onto the Responsible Tourism platform. We invite you to participate in this positive program and share in our joy by giving you the opportunity to positively impact your travel destination.
At the end of each month we allot a percentage (1% of each sister company – Rumors Resort & GoMaya Belize Adventures) of our profits towards a worthy cause. This is either in the way of food hampers, school supplies, books for libraries, or in collaboration with any charitable organization such as Rotary & Rotaract in assisting any of our various needy communities.
Since we are very new to this, (we’ve only begun in December, 2016). We will be creating a blog at the end of each month with videos showing you where and how your contributions were distributed.
We will also continue to find better ways to assist our communities by devising a more specific plan with a more direct purpose. For example, we plan to work closely with an organization who manufactures wheel chairs for the disabled. These are then distributed to the hospitals, or geriatric centers where the need for wheel chairs is prevalent, yet supplies are lacking.
Bring a gift
For this Christmas season, we kindly ask you to consider bringing along a small gift in the way of a used toy, clothes, shoes, hat, etc. or just about anything that would come from your heart for our needy communities. We will be inviting the less fortunate kids in our communities to come and chose a gift on Christmas day at our resort. Footage of this will be uploaded to our blog site and Facebook page.
The above initiative is not limited to the Christmas season. If you’re visiting anytime during the year, feel free to bring along a small donation of your choice (used clothes, shoes, pack packs, books, crayons, rulers, pens or pencils, etc, or just about anything of value to a needy person). We will be distributing these where it makes the most valuable impact.
